Working together
Engagements
Two ways to engage. One for the leader. One for the organization.
The Signal Session is for moments when you're facing a decision and need help finding clarity before you make it.
Finding the Crux is for when something systemic is off — decisions aren't sticking, teams aren't connecting, or the real problem keeps getting called something else. The work is diagnostic: find what's actually true, name it clearly, and help the organization move from that clarity.
The Signal Session
Strategic advisory for leaders who need clarity, not more information.
You have seventeen opinions about what to do next. Half of them are yours.
The problem isn't that you don't know enough. It's that everything feels equally urgent, every decision feels consequential, and you don't have the one thing that would let you move: the signal beneath the noise.
The Signal Session is a focused thinking partnership — rigorous, direct, and warm. We find what's actually happening beneath the presenting problem. We name the crux. You leave knowing what to do next.
This is for you if:
You're building something and the decisions are compounding faster than your clarity. You have advisors, investors, co-founders — smart people with strong opinions — and somehow that makes it harder, not easier. You don't need another opinion. You need someone to help you find your signal and trust it.
What it's not: coaching. It's not a board meeting. It's not consulting with deliverables. It's a direct, structured conversation with someone who will ask the question you've been avoiding — and stay in the room while you answer it.
Formats
Single Session
A 90-minute focused conversation. We find the signal, name the crux, and you leave knowing what to do next.
Ongoing Advisory
A monthly retainer for leaders who want a consistent thinking partner as decisions compound. We meet regularly and stay in contact between sessions.
Finding the Crux
Organizational consulting for companies navigating complexity.
Something isn't connecting. You can feel it in the pace of decisions, the gaps between what you intend and what gets built, the conversations that happen after the meeting instead of during it. You've been calling it a communication problem, or a prioritization problem, or a people problem. It might be something else entirely.
Finding the Crux is Signal & Crux's organizational consulting practice. The work is the same at every stage: identify the real problem beneath the presenting problem, build the clarity needed to move, and help the organization act from that clarity rather than from noise.
For early-stage companies, this often shows up at the seams — between founders, between product and engineering, between what you're building and what your customers are actually asking for. The friction is real. The question is whether you're solving for the symptom or the cause.
This is for you if:
Your team is capable, but something keeps slipping. You're making decisions but the decisions aren't sticking. You're moving fast but not in the same direction. You need someone from the outside who can find what's true in your specific situation — not apply a framework, but actually see what's happening and help you name it.
The engagement
Finding the Crux is a bounded 2 to 4 week engagement. Each week includes discovery work — interviews, observation, and analysis — plus advisory time with your leadership team to share what we're finding in real time.
The engagement concludes with a leadership team session: a structured working conversation that names what's true, identifies the crux, and establishes a clear path forward.
Following the leadership team session, we remain available for follow-on meetings as needed over the course of the next month to support implementation and answer what comes up.
Available virtually or in the Boulder/Denver metro area.
Investment
Pricing is available upon inquiry and provided in writing before any engagement begins.
Signal & Crux is not the least expensive option. It is the option for founders and leaders who are ready to stop circling the problem and start naming it. We work with clients on a range of arrangements depending on the engagement and the organization.
